on another forum a couple of dudes were saying that hair color can make a difference to hair loss. is this true?

if that's the case, people with red hair would be most susceptible to hair loss since they have less hair on their head. blondes should be least susceptible to hair loss since they have the most hair on their head, right? but these guy's were saying people with blonde or ginger hair were more likely to lose their hair, whereas those with brown hair would be less likely to?

i don't get it.

As a child I had hair that was about as pure blond as can possibly be. I had very blue eyes too. My hair turned dirty blonde and now it's like a golden tinged brown. I have pretty thick hair as well (meaning number of hair follicles--each hair is about normal thickness). I'm actually quite blessed hair wise save for my hairline temples and corners. I don't really have any thinning anywhere.

I do think that blondes or dirty blondes are more susceptible to balding though. It seems like most of the guys I see around campus with Norwood 0 hairlines have blackish (or dark brownish) hair and most of the guys that are balding have blondish hair. Before my maternal grandfather started going white in his 30s, he had black hair and he had awesome hair--he had no crown loss and it took him until his 60s to reach a Norwood 2 hairline! My dad also has black hair and I think my maternal grandfather had dark brown hair.

blonde people have less hair than other colors...like on average 10,000 or something like that.

Are you sure? I never read this. I always read that blondes generally have 10,000-20,000 more hairs on their head than the average person. I don't know how true that is but my situation seems to back that claim up since I have a lot of head hair. Occasionally whoever cuts my hair at Great Clips comments on it and a year ago I sought to get a non-buzz haircut and I asked the guy how he would recommend doing it. And he's like "well first I would need to thin you hair..." I had this knee jerk reaction and shouted "NO!" I asked him if I had thick hair and he said something like "your hair shafts are normal thickness but you just have a lot it." So this seems to also go along with what I read about blondes; they generally have thin-normal hair shaft diameters but more hairs altogether.
