Is beard growth impossible while on a DHT blocker?

Since September I've been applying minoxidil to my beard area, which for some people causes really good growth. However, since I'm also on finasteride, and DHT plays a big role in beard development, is this project already doomed to fail? I know that the general rule is that people with thick beards will more likely have male pattern baldness, but people with patchy / no facial hair will likely keep their hair. So do we have to choose one or the other?

FYI I've seen pretty much no results on my beard. There are a lot of vellus hairs but I'm not sure if those were there before.

i've been on finasteride for a long time.. never had a thick beard or body hair.. Though I have ~25% asian blood, that could definitely played a role too... as asians tend to have less body hair..

I never grew a thick full beard which is weird as I am a proud arab, I wear a goatee now but it hasn't changed since i was 20 so for me that's when beard growth stopped but people are different, but if you have concerns then wait until your early twenties before taking a DHT blocker

Honestly, when I don't take finasteride (I.e., if I run out) for a few weeks my facial grows at an insanely fast rate.
When I take finasteride (which I have been since I was 18, 21 now) my facial grows at a snail pace

Since T is by far the most abundant male hormone I think T plays some role too its not just DHT. If you took dutasteride and stopped nearly all DHT it might slow it down or prevent a lot of it. It only prevents though so if you have a beard it wont just make it go away. Its time dependent, and like I said T plays a role in hair growth too its not just DHT
Judging from the number of bearded women I see it seems pretty common sense to me body hair/facial hair growth are largely if not entirely controlled by androgens. There is no perfect anti androgen though so its not an issue because you cant remove all your T and DHT short of castration

Finasteride has not affected my facial hair in any noticeable way.

EDIT: Growth has slowed down a bit, but the hairs are all still there and still as thick.

it doesnt stop my facial hair production completely, but i could skip a weekly beard lineup at the barbers when im super consistent with finasteride.

I haven't noticed any changes of my beard growth while on Dutasteride, it seems the same to me. Though I think I have a decrease in body hair, nothing significant. Of course my scalp hair is doing better.

Yeah I think T is a major player in a lot of it. I would be curious to see results of someone using RU on their beard or body hair in a spot and see what it did. If you stopped T and DHT locally you would think hair growth would stop, but it might only prevent hard to say
