Insurance coverage

Hello to all,

My medical insurance covers Finasteride but it does not cover Propecia. Isnt Propecia and finasteride the same thing??

Propecia (finasteride 1mg) is a cosmetic drug use for hairloss

Proscar (finasteride 5mg) is a drug for the prostate. Most of us cut up proscar to save money since it is so much cheaper than shelling out money for propecia every month.


The cost doesn't make much sense at all but thats the drug industry for ya...
