Due to the easily found common sense based advice that if you supect the possibility of hair loss in the slightest, you must consult with a doctor as soon as possible.

So I have done by going to a dermatologist. At the office, they did scalp biopsy (will be charged as a SURGERY and carefully itemized), and sent me to a lab for a numerous blood work. I agree that such a biopsy and blood works are necessary because I need to find out the reason for apparent hair loss on lateral sides of my head.

However, I am now very worried. I think I did right by going to a dermatologist as I was adviced, but how will insurance company process the claims for the visit, biopsy, and bloodworks? No treatment was done. They are all tests and consultations. I know I should have done this BEFORFE going to a dermatologist, but seeing a dermatologist is something that needed to be done regardless......

My insurance is Aetna. Anyone have any info that might help in case the claims get flatout denied? It will be well aound $5000 for all the medical services for the biopsy being considered as a surgical procedure
