Has anyone been on minoxidil 10% and seen better results?
Honestly, I do wanna get on minoxidil 10% but tend to get scared of what people have to say on this forum. If 5% is better than 2% wouldn't 10% do even better?
If anyone has or is on minoxidil 10% I'd appreciate if they share the pros and cons.
Thankyou!

That depends on the levels of sulfotransferase you have

I am using 15% with 200mg RU now since 2 weeks. No extra sides. Had 0 results on 5% and 100mg RU, just lost lots more.

I never got the idea of the high percentage vs the larger dose.

Why is using 10% better than doubling the dose of 5%?

I currently use 5% 1x a day and sometimes consider going to 2x a day

I had good results but curious if they would improve with 2x a day OR using twice as much dose, 1x a day.

Sorry if that reads confusing.

Minoxidil is actually made to be applied twice a day so if you're getting results using it once a day you'd definitely thicken up your hair if you apply every 12 hrs.
Now the real question is will the results get better as you use higher dosage or apply it more than two times.
I'm thinking of using minoxidil 5% every 6 hrs for a couple of months
Will get back at you with the results and sides.

I think that is counter productive/

Dr Bernstein has it on his website that minoxidil has a 22 hour life.

This is why I debate 1 vs 2x a day, as opposed to using twice the dose 1x a day.

Pardon my english but you've got no visible results with 15% as of yet?

Apparently if 2% didn't work for you (in restoring hair), 5% won't work either, and neither would 10% or 15-30%.

You need high levels of an enzyme, which is genetic, like the poster above said sulfotransferase levels matter.

Here is the link where you can read about it:

https://www.dermhairclinic.com/minoxidil-effectiveness-for-hair-restoration/

Research has shown a correlation between high sulfotransferase levels and the effectiveness of Minoxidil. For example, those who do not experience the hair restorative effects of the drug have shown to have lower amounts of sulfotransferase.

Also, the production of this enzyme has been associated with chromosome 16p. Genetics basically dictate the production of proteins within individuals, which includes the enzymes of the body.

Therefore, if an individual does not have sufficient quantities of this minoxidil enzyme sulfotransferase, upgrading the concentration of Minoxidil from 2% to 5% will not help.

I saw on another thread, someone posted their results from 23andme which shows if they had the gene, SULTA1 which is associated with Sulfotransferase production.

What about if minoxidil stopped worked after 1 year in a person and in the other guy still works after 5 years of using

What do you think about?

Just taking a shot in the dark here (i'm not a minoxidil effectiveness expert), I think it depends what you're talking about that it stopped working after 1 year. For example, is it a shed? Which is why it seemed like it "stopped working"? Did this person stopped using it when it apparently stopped working? If this person did, how would they know it was just a shed they needed to ride out versus the minoxidil's effectiveness decreasing?

Honestly man, it could be anything. I don't think minoxidil stops working after only 1 year, you're actually going to see the best results after 1 year not a decrease unless it's a shed. But I guess anything is possible since everyone is different. But I really think it could just be a shed.

I am pretty sure this is not true with the 2 vs 5 % because a lot of women who were using the 2 switched to the 5.
You have to google it to make sure because I read so much stuff that after a while my brain is like spaghetti. But I seem to remember this as a given on the ladies forums the 5 works better than 2 and those who got no results on 2 got results on 5.

that's totally possible, for example if someone's sulfotransferase level is 5, then switching from 2 % to 5% would give better results but switching from from 5% to 10% would not.
