I am really desperate for some advice on my sore scalp. Ever since my hairloss started I have this tingleling, itching, sometimes even painful scalp condition that I can't get rid off.

I have been using finasteride and Nizoral for over three month now and tried as well Alpecin, T/Gel, H&S, some other shampoos and even a cortisone cream. Nothing has helped. I am worried to get started on minoxidil as I think it can make things only become worse. Do you have any other suggestions!? Might Tricomin be worse a try?

Would really appreciate some advice ... there is nothing worse than being reminded all day that you are going bald.

What age are you?

You could try applying olive oil during the night, it helps with my inflammation and with that I use Revita Shampoo. My inflammation is still there though.

I reccomend if you have short hair to use spironolactone, it completely stops my inflammation on application but unfortuenatly is expensive and does have it's side effects when too much is applied. Finasteride also nearly completely eradicates inflammation but unfortuenatly produces side effects also..

Also, shower with cool-luke warm water to avoid drying out the scalp. When applying the Shampoo/Condtioner massage the scalp it helps to stimulate blood flow which is being "choked" with inflammation.

Thanks a lot for your advice Decro - I never heard of Revita, might try that now. You got the same prob right? I saw that in the search results. I'm 27 but I must have been loosing hair for a couple of years now ... I am diffuse thinning too on the whole top of my head.

I tried the olive oil last night and it worked like magic. The thing is though if the itch goes away instantly I guess this means the inflammation isn't gone really, is it?

Did you ever try Folligen, Tricomin, Aloe Lotion or Emu Oil? Or changing your diet? What would you guess is the most likely to work of those. You always read people recommending these things but no one comes back saying it worked. : (

I haven't tried Folligen or Tricomin. But there are Copper Peptides in Revita Shampoo along with many other ingredients that combat inflammation. Another more common shampoo that I found helped would be T-gel Sensitive scalp. A member here recently posted a study showing positive effects of Coal Tar (T-gels active ingredient) on male pattern baldness/Androgenetic Alopecia. Also, some European versions of T-gel have Piroctone Olamine in them, which has been showed to promote regrowth of hair follicles.

The Finasteride should limit the amount of inflammation in the next few weeks. If you have short hair, try and apply Olive oil as much as possible. Make sure it's Extra Virgin Olive oil. It's also been reported that Omega +3 supplements help with inflammation, but I find it hard to see any effect from them after 3 months of use. Once again, make sure you use luke-warm/cool water when showering and condition every time you shampoo.

I mix Emu oil, Jojoba oil and Olive oil together an apply that nightly to my scalp. It's like a nightly conditioner for my hair which is helpful when you shampoo everyday. It's kind of hard to pin down which oil is better than the other. I've heard tons about Emu oil, but it seems to be a "miracle cure" for everything. Aloe vera is another interesting lotion. I want to use this in the near future, but I'll have to locate a cheap resource of it in it's pure gel form. Anyways, I expect that in the coming months the Finasteride will do it's job of inhibiting DHT and therefore inflammation.

Dude are you sure I can still expect finasteride to improve my inflammation? I have been taking it already for over three months!

I will replace Alpecin now with Revita shampoo and put on some olive oil each night. Where do you get your Emu Oil from - online right? Are you from the UK as well? I hope I can use Revita together with Nizoral. If not I might kick out Nizoral ... only thing that worries me is it says nowhere how much Keto Revita exactly contains!? 1%, 2% ... 0,00002%?

I did try T/Gel but I guess it contains something I am allergic to - it did exactly the opposite to my scalp it was supposed to do.

Are you using any hair styling products? I am using a matte surfer look paste (ever since). Will toss that in the bin as well now and go for some pure natural wax or similar.

Well thanks a lot again for your advice man! Really, really appreciate it.

I live in Ireland, but I order from Nothern Ireland(UK) on TradeTalk.ie. It's handy but the lotion is thick and can be hard to apply unless your hair is short. Olive oil is the only oil I can be certain does something for my hair. There's loads of evidence that Emu oil is benificial, so I'll continue with it.

I use Surf hair matte (L'oreal?) as well, I honestly don't think it will damage hair. It makes the hair look better than using gel.

As for Revita, that's one thing that I also worry about. It includes a lot of impressive ingredients but I don't know how much of each it contains and whether any of these react together. I trust that the producers would research what is needed and how much of each ingredient is needed. Anyways, It's what I've chosen to use and one of the most important keys to a succesful regimen is consistency so I'll use it everyday for the 6-12 months then assess it's effectiveness.

I would have thought that Finasteride would have calmed your inflammation by now, but then again everyone reacts differently. It might just be taking longer to reverse the effects of DHT's damage. Give it time. I've heard of people cutting out Dairys to combat hair loss and inflammation. I don't think that such a drastic decision should be taken, but I guess if your inflammation doe's not subside then maybe you could try this. I believe that it might be taking a while longer for finasteride to regulate your DHT levels. The 4th month is usually a big month for Finasteride users.
