Hey folks, i switched over from 1mg propecia to 5mg fincar (cut in 4th's of 1.25mg daily) bought from inhouse. i cut these pills whenever i takem, rather then precutting for x amount of days.

For those of ya'll who have done this and are still doing it, can you share your experiences.

1) How long have you been taking the upped dosage.
2) Did the increase dosage prove to be beneficial or more like a big mistake?
3) Experience substantial shedding or no shedding at all?
4) Did more hair grow, or did you just retain the same amount of hair, or did you actually lose more!?

Its been close to 2 months so far and for me, im experiencing a large amount of shedding (or so i hope its shedding).
Libido is still A ok :$, more watery though.

If you would like to share any other info., please do not hesitate to do so!

Thanks

Hmmm.. Very interesting. I did exactly the same thing you did and had less than favorable results. I was on propecia for 8 years then later fincar for about a year and a half or so. I maintained/possibly improved over that time and then to try to cut costs - and ensure I was on legit stuff - I got a script for proscar and split it into 1.25 a day. After a few months, I started shedding (for 4+ months currently) which I had NEVER done before to the point where it brought me to this forum for help. I mean it got to the point where every time I would touch my hair I would look at my hands to see if there was hair on them and usually there was :( .

I stopped the proscar and went back on fincar for the last month and a half and just about the last 2 weeks I noticed the shedding has decreased. Now whether or not this has to do with the proscar I am not exaclty sure as there may have been other factors that caused this as well. It just seemed to me that after 9+ years on finasteride and then switching to proscar that it was possibly the #1 cause. However, after researching this site a lot, the shedding may have also been due to what happens with some people when they first get on finasteride (maybe the increased dosage) which would have produced greater results in the long run.

This is just my story and I'm sure others have had much more positive experiences. Best of luck!

I started with 1mg and it worked great, then at spring I started to shed a little bit and that made me scared.
So I changed to 1.25 and that made me shed even more. Now back on 1mg and it is getting better.
I think my shedding is just a seasonal thing but I'm just going to stick with 1mg.
