Increased test???

Hey im just after a bit of advice ive been taking 0.25mg finasteride for 3 weeks. since taking it the last few days my head is becoming quite itchy especially around mt temples and frontal part of scalp. Could this be the whole testosterone effecting the frontal section? anyone else experienced this. is it worth sticking with? thanks

yeah i noticed much the same... although for me it was the top of my scalp. Don't know if it was the finasteride or not (it's not the first time i've had an itchy scalp...), either way went after a week or two.

thanks for your reply. How did ur hair figure during this couple of weeks. Did u have an increase in shedding or no difference?

actually just about after the itching stopped is when I started shedding bucket loads.... but right on the heels of the hair shedding was hair growing, I'm now at the end of month 2 and looking at my pics I haven't lost any ground despite the more or less continuous shed I had during the whole of month 2 - The shedding seems to have slowed somewhat recently so I'm hoping it'll give a chance for my hair to actually improve over the next couple months. Here's to hoping!


I found Neutrogena T-gel with Coal Tar quite good for the itch by the way.

How can you take .25mg of finasteride? I doubt it will have the desired effect.
You are actually taking 5 times less than most of the ppl here and 20 times less than me.
Initial itchiness is natural.

nothing wrong with starting out at .25mg and working your way up to a tolerance level.

im taking 0.25mg as ive had side effects id rather do without when taking full dose. im hoping to at least bump it up to 0.5mg tho in the future. Basically ive been having good results with just xandrox so im in two minds whether i should b changing anything but they say minoxidil results dont really last so i want a treatment thats gonna last me. this itchiness is getting on my nerves but if it makes my hair better in the long run what the hell il take it.
