right now i'm trying to get rid of my seb derm and am using neutrogena coal tar and sal acid shampoos to combat....i will say that it does seem to help. my question is, since i shower every other day i try to use both shampoos in at each shower. so i first use the sal acid shampoo to loosen all of the dead build up, leave on for 5 mins, rinse, then apply the coal tar stuff....leave for 5 mins, then rinse....i have currently added a thickening shampoo so i do that after the first two....does this sound alright guys? it sometimes seems like it might be doing some harm to my scalp.

also, bryan...did u say that coal tar helps to shrink the size of the sebaceous glands in our scalp...or was that just my imagination??

M. Gloor in a chapter in the book "Hair Research" says that coal tar was shown to reduce the physical size of sebaceous glands in the hamster model, and was shown to reduce sebaceous gland secretions in humans. They apparently didn't do any biopsies in the humans to see if the glands actually shrank in size, but in general, the size of glands and their production of lipids parallel each other fairly closely.
