Imperato-McGinley syndrome:Conditions with DHT deficiency.

The essential role of DHT for hair growth and
Androgenetic Alopecia development is confirmed by Imperato-McGinley
syndrome caused by mutation of gene for type II of
5α-reductase, which prevents expression of this enzyme
and sufficient production of DHT. Men with this
syndrome do not suffer from enlarged prostate and do not
become bald (Imperato-McGinley et al. 1974).
