Hi all, teriffic forum you have here. I'm 38 yrs old, still have all my hair (a bit grey, admittedly) and am wondering the effects Propecia would have on me if I began taking it as a preventative measure against future baldness. I stumbled on this forum after a search following an argument I had at work over baldness.

A workmate of mine, 33 years old, has been balding since his teens and shaves his head like Kojac or Bruce Willis. He said to me that because I'm approaching 40, have all my hair with no signs of even early balding, that I'll have my hair the rest of my days. Wonder what you all think, as I'm clueless about all of this. Interesting info on Propecia though has spiked my interest, as I would obviously like to hold onto my hair for as long as possible. Would taking Propecia, in my case cause hair changes or shedding or even irrecoverable loss because I'm not already balding?

By the way, I think I'm a prime example of a lucky devil, because my diet is crap, I have smoked for over 20 years (I'm still quite fit and slim though - I jog & cycle to work) and I like a drink. So I believe, as some do, that hair or lack thereof has nothing to do with lifestyle: it's all genetic - I'm an example. Thanks in advance and I do hope that you all are successful with your regimes

I am a bit older than you and had thick hair until the begining of this year and then hairloss got aggressive..so you are not safe at any age..I am proof of that.

My hairline has disappeared and is thin at the front section..finally I got on finasteride just over a month ago and hope to stop the loss as its still quite aggressive and worried if and when it would calm down.

My advice is to not take anything unless you see a problem as you can aggravate it and start a problem that was not there. If you see it start thinning or receding at a rate then get on finasteride.

My doctor said no. I might get breasts and grow too much hair.

You are a lucky devil though I fear that you may have strained your arm when you were patting yourself on the back. Maybe your bald co-worker would continue the pats while you ate some fried food and shared a pack of Marlboros. :hairy:

He is only trying to see if we have a sense of humour. Yes we do. Will he post again with some more deep insight?

propecia fucks with your hormones. do not take it.
I took it for 2 weeks and felt lethargic and overall crap.
even if I was going bald big time I wouldnt touch it.
forget it.
just use good shampoos, diet and stop smoking.
why do you give a F anyhow, you smoke so im sure you have more lines on your face than I do on my anus. give up smokes first before you care about hair.
