I'm 26 and have been noticing thinning since the age of 22 or so. By looking at the norwood scale i would say I'm a healthy 2, but I'm probably blind to reality. I tried revivogen a year or so ago and used it sporatically, about 3-4 times per week, and didnt notice any improvement or slowing down of thinning. Can someone please tell me what to do?? I'v been reading this forum and the "success" forum for 3 hours now and it's motivated me to start some type of serious regime. I've read about the big 3, but am a little worried about side effects. Also, is it true that you have to continue the use of rogaine and perpecia for the rest of your life?? or stop and risk losing all the new hair??

Anyways, I appreciate any help

Yeah you better try something soon. I am new also but am also a norwood 2, but its okay I going to be 41. I came here to get advice on temple restoration and transplantation. I dont have any thinning just recession like a norwood 2. If you want to stay a norwood 2 or better by age 41..you better start asking some serious questions, change diet, excercise. So far what i have read from here and on the internet is it all depends on you and how you want to treat male pattern baldness. Good luck and I know youll get the answers to the questions you pose. I have.

Yes...we'ev all seen derms on this forum. If you do decide to get on a treatment, as I am considering, see what you derm has to suggest, then shave your head and go into it. I have read alot of guys do this cause whatever theyre applying works best close to scalp. besides if the topicals or meds make you start shedding hair, at least with a buzzed head it will be less noticeable than with 2 in or more length hair. I am thinkin of buzzing my head just so I can use nizoral by itself.

K i swear this is my last reply to my own post. It's just i'm looking for supportive words before i plunge into a series of pills and creams.

My last question, the whole shedding process, is it extremely noticable?? will hair be coming out in bunches and i'll have to wear a hat??

Just a little timid to plunge in head first and need some encouragement lol.

Thanks again

That just doesnt make any sense! Just think about what you're saying.. Why would he shave his head just so that it is easier to apply topicals (it is not more effective) when his goal is to keep his hair? The meds are for life, so whats the difference on shaving it and get bald or applying the topicals and still shaving it?

I've been reading up on hair loss treatments all day and came upon this site http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.a ... e=PROPECIA

I'm not so sure anymore if it's worth it. Has anyone else had or not had these side effects from propecia?? I want to stop the recede, but at this price i'm not so sure

Side effects occured in less than 2% of those taking propecia during the clinical trials. The placebo group had similiar side effects and those who continued treatment of propecia saw their side effects go away. Therefore, Propecia in my honest opinion is worth the incredibly small risk.

Take it from me who has been a norwood 2 since i was 20 (I'm now 25). I have been on propecia for over 3 years and have recently started using Nizoral and Rogaine religiously. I am seeing new hairs on my hairline and things are thickening nicely.

Once you start the treatments do not stop! Any treatment you start must be used until something better comes along.

you should have a look at the product reviews on this site before you
make a decision really. a good start is obviously finasteride and nizoral but
you may want to have a look at the new revita shampoo instead. you
could use something like spironolactone cream if you just want to maintain which
would give you less chance of a shed than minoxidil.
