I'm coming up to 5 years and it's slowly starting again...

I’ve been on Propecia and Rogaine for just under 5 years now. In the beginning it stopped my hair loss completely and I saw some decent regrowth. I was starting to bald at the crown and receding quite badly towards the temples. All has been fine up until the last few months when I’ve noticed my temple are heading backwards and becoming thin again. I haven’t noticed any huge loss on my crown but it may have thinned.

Is there anywhere for me to go from here (new drugs/lasers) for my receding hair line at the temples? I haven't been here for years so I'm a bit off the ball when it comes to treatments.

Thank you.

Hi Bernard,

Are you using the nizoral 2% together with your regimen? It's a good shampoo for me. Is there any pictures that you can share?

No, would that help? I was using it for the first 6 month when my head got pretty flakey from the rogaine but that stopped, so I dropped the shampoo too.

Sorry no pictures yet, might try and get some up.

Try adding Mega Strength Beta-Sitosterol to your regimen. That would be my next immediate move, anyway. Also reduce overall fat intake, and leave red meat out of diet. Beta--Sitosterol is clinically shown to reduce DHT via two mechanisms both directly and indirectly.

The downside my be a slightly more decreased libido. But it may contribute to benefit. Worth a shot IMO.

Yeah I noticed a slight drop in my libido since starting Beta sitosterol, nothing to complain about though but the fact that it's done that shows it's doing something, also my hair texture has, i believe, improved since being on it.

It certainly should, especially in concert with things like Zinc + Vitamin B6, which has also been shown to lower levels of DHT (in some cases profoundly). Watch out for Zinc overdose though. Anymore than 30g a day for a month and you risk a loss of other hair essential minerals like Magnesium, Iron and Copper.

I supplement with Magnesium and Iron once a week to make sure my levels don't get too low from all of my Zinc & B6 supplements. On a side note: Daily Iron could eventually be bad, because Iron is an oxidant (which leads to heart disease and cancer etc). That's why I limit my intake of that to once a week or two.

The best bet is to get your Zinc from high zinc food sources like Roasted pumpkin seeds & peanuts. Then eat it together with a vitamin B supplement tablet.
