Go here:

And then click on the video "Hair Transplantation for Men: A Visit to the Operating Room." It gets brutal after about 8 minutes.
Actually its not that bad. The only bad part is removing the strip. Those videos are very informative. "Treating Hairloss: What should Men Expect" is another good one.
Damn, just check out the videos for Medical Treatment of Hairloss.

Actually does not hurt too bad during the operation other than the pain killer shots to the back and front of head. The real pain is the aftermath of the scar in the donor area which hurts for weeks after the operation during sleep and then itches for years until the scar subsides some. It took about 5 years for my scar to not be able to feel it much. However, overall...it was worth the 300 grafts. I'd be in bad shape in front without.

you know hair transplants are getting pretty good these days, in the hands of a good Dr you can go from a Norwood 5 or 6 to a solid nw2, I guess you will still need a good pile of cash
but in the hands of a bad Dr you can end up like Frankinstien monster
I could handly the pain of the op, but i dont think i could live with a really dodgy unatural hair line or dolls hair plugs, the pain lasts a few days or weeks, a bad hair transplant will be with you a life time
as you can see i have been give this some thought
