IL-1 was one of the inflammatory cytokines mentioned by Hideo Uno invololved with hairloss along with TGF beta and PKC. Interesting that silica can somewhat lessen its effect. I read a long while ago that Russian researchers had success in slowing hairloss by simply adding silica to shampoo on some site or another. Interesting stuff nonetheless
