So I started noticing hair loss around over a year ago. I was on Lexapro at the time. It's an anti-depressant that has hair loss as a rare side effect. I quickly got off it, but the hair loss has been steadily increasing since then.
First I was experiencing thinning on the back part of the crown (where people usually have their bald spots), which has become more and more pronounced. Now I also have a fairly severe receding hairline and overall thinning all over the crown.
Over a year ago, I started using generic extra strength minoxidil. Then I got on Propecia and stopped taking the minoxidil. At times over the past year I've been really bad about the Propecia. Like, only taking it every other day, not taking it for an entire week. But since I really started noticing the balding getting bad lately, I've started up a more thorough regimen.
I'm taking Propecia once a day, applying 5% minoxidil twice a day, and just began using 1% Nizoral shampoo every 3 days. I'm also trying to exercise more, eat better, and started taking a fish oil & men's multivitamin once a day. I've really only been thorough about this for a couple weeks now, if that.
I'm young - 22 - and am prepared to do whatever I can to halt the balding and grow my hair back, though I don't want to resort to any kind of surgery at this point. So my question is, is my regimen the best I can be doing right now? Should I look into doing Nioxin as well? Any other tips?
Thanks in advance for any help.
