That's cool, but will it be available commercially as soon as 2020-2021 ?

I've thought about this one for the past couple of days and I've gone from "no" to "maybe" in what I think of this.

It's really not extremely different from Tsuji's method, if you think about it. Their idea is to take the patient's own cells, multiply them, and then laser them into the scalp. No doubt that the epithelial cell multiplying will pose a challenge for them as well, but Organ Tech says they feel they can solve this, which means others will too.

The method works on the same concept, but the implementation of it is much more complicated and I think that would jack up the price significantly. By the time they successfully print a living follicle and begin the trials, it's highly likely that Tsuji's simpler method will already be out.

The one advantage this might have, though, is if they manage to print a follicle earlier than anticipated, as that could cause a snowball effect.

I hate when anyone uses the term "holy grail" before it's proven to work. The only term worse is "the gold standard" for the sh*t we have now.

People are still in the early stages of 3D printing follicles, and I don't think they will maintain the genetic properties of the person's hair at this point. Possible I suppose.
