Hi everyone,

The last few months have been very stressful. I barely passed all my classes and graduated from an engineering college but was under constant stress (like could not sleep at night stress) of a professor threatening to fail me. Then 2 months ago my roommate ( one of my best friends since childhood) literally went crazy in a 24 hour time span and went into a psychotic state saying crazy sh*t that was very scary and made me fear for my safety. I had to call his parents at 4am in the morning to come get him from college. I ended up driving to my parents house which was 4 hours away a few minutes after calling my roommates parents and ended up having a lot of trouble sleeping that week. Literally one of the most stressful weeks of my life dealing with the fallout from that experience. I have had long hair the past year but decided to get a haircut yesterday as I had a job interview today. Naturally my hair is very fine but I have not noticed any thinning besides some slight recession at my temples the past year or so that I haven't gotten a haircut. After my haircut I noticed that I have several patches of thin hair that are not consistent with male pattern baldness as they are on sides of my head and the back of my head by my neck. I think it may be telogen effluvium but I am not 100% sure as I am not an expert on hair loss. From the pics below, what do you all think? I don't think I'll go to the dermatologist just yet but was wondering if there is anything I should be worried about and if there is anything I can do if it is telogen effluvium. My haircut was a #4 on the sides and the back of my head. I can post more pics if necessary.

Thanks yall!

If the thinning is stress-induced then it should grow back. Normally it takes a lot more then what you went through for this to happen. But I guess it is possible. Also, you should probably look into finding a new barber. He did a poor job cutting your sides and back.

Seeing a derm would be a good idea if you notice your hair getting worse. I don't think anything is wrong at the moment though.
