I'm in a similar position, been taking finasteride for around the same time except my hair looks worse than ever. You shouldn't lose any hair within a short time of 3 weeks, but why are you even going back to it after your break if it isn't working for you after 5 months?

Ive read too many reports of people saying they didnt notice anything until 8-12 months and then noticed a major improvement in hair quality.

Also, im not greedy and if i can maintain what i have now id be fine with it so maintenance for 6-10 years sounds good to me honestly. Propecia works for too many people to not give it at least a full consistent year to gauge its effectiveness, alot of people abandon ship too quick. i think even 6 months is too quick.

the psychological aspect of not doing anything about my hair gets to me sometimes, so being on finasteride still puts me at ease.

When you say it looks worst than ever have u actually lost ground or did the quality of your hair diminish?

I've lost a ton of density with hairline receding more and it's been like that since about month 2-3, I don't know if finasteride is making my hair worse or if it would've naturally gotten worse rapidly around this time without finasteride, although it's extremely unlikely. Either way I'll probably be quitting once I finish the remainder that I've got left over.

3 weeks isn't that long. Who knows, it might even be good for you to let your body recover from it for a bit.

All DHT blockers take a long time to settle in, bro. You need those 8-12 months to really see and feel your gains.

I agree, too many people take note from good responders and think if at 4 months there's no progress, then there won't be any.

Everything I've heard or read about finasteride says 2 things; 1) finasteride is primarily for maintenance and the majority of men do at least maintain the hair that they have. That's not to say you can't get regrowth with finasteride but it's not something you should expect 100%. If you really want regrowth you should try Min as well.
2) You need to give it at least 12 months to see the maximum results. If you're one of the unlucky ones who's still losing hair at the 12 month mark then it's probably time to stop.
