I Need Help, Minoxidil Fat Face, Will It Go Away? Also Some Pictures

Alright, long story short: Last year I noticed general thinning on my scalp, I let it be for like 10 months to see if it stopped or got better but it didnt.

3 weeks ago, I started minoxidil 5%, within 1 week I noticed dark spots under my eyes and just a general look of "being tired", I ignored it and continued. One week after, I met my friend and he asked: "what the f*** have u been doing?? face looks fat!!".

Bare in mind, Im 10% bodyfat, VERY active and usually I have extremely sharp features, sharp jaw, very defined cheekbones ...

now? They are all gone, and the skin is "sagging".

Ive noticed nothing with minoxidil yet, just an increased amount of shedding which started within 2 weeks of threatment.

I also added finasteride 1 week ago to atleast keep what I have, but so far I havent noticed anything (ofcourse), neither no side effects.

Now I do wonder:

1. Is it safe for me to stop minoxidil now or will that f*** up my hair even more?
2. Anyone with similar experiences - do u think the face will return to normal after 3 weeks of minoxidil use? I assume It cannot really be "aging" so far, just alot of water retention or something.

3. Do u think finasteride is more effective than minoxidil? I dont have much thinning really, but I wanna make sure to stop it while I can.

4. Ive noticed increased shedding since starting minoxidil, the thing is I also shed alot of "thick good hairs", is this really normal?

I provide a couple of pictures of my hair:

i would see a dermatologist if you have swelling, that is the first immune response from human bodies.

Could be adverse reactions, could be nothing at all. Also, finasteride attacks hairloss differently than minoxidil, most people would say it works better than minoxidil because it stops hairloss at the molecular level thereby slowing down DHT. It is normal to shed with minoxidil, that tends to be a good sign that it is working...

Well I dont have any swelling per se I think, just alot of "water retention" in my face, it almost reminds me of when I use too much creatine - which also binds water in the face - your whole body is very low bodyfat, but the face looks watery and "fat" as a mother f****r ... very annoying

But do u think its safe to quit minoxidil after 3 weeks?

swelling by definition is accumulation of fluids in a body tissue, aka anywhere in the skin. Again im not a doctor, but im sure its safe to get off minoxidil. However, i would recommend to at least see your primary physician

Have you tried any of the shampoos ? Ketoconozole might be able to help if you cant use minoxidil ... the most common brands are nizoral and regenepure dr

Yes I recently added nizoral schampoo, I hope that helps!

Now again, as you can see on my pics, I still have ALOT of hair and I can cover the spots up very well with Toppik so it doesnt even look like Ive thinned. My only concern really is to KEEP what I have, IF I can manage to do that Im a happy man.

Do u think finasteride along with nizoral will do that? Im on day 8 of finasteride so no change yet ofcourse, but atleast I havent noticed any side effects at all .. Im even hornier now than when I began, for some reason.

Many of us experience that topical minoidil enters the blood. I tried it for 3 day, experienced dizzyness, heartbeat and woke up with xxl bags under my eyes. Such sides may go away with lower dose, but I chose to stop.

My advice would be to go for finasteride. Most men do not experience noticable sides. And it goes after the problem, too much DHT.

Thankyou yes, Ive noticed a certain kind of "sleepyness" after minoxidil, for a couple hours, but thats the only side effect really - apart from the EXTREMELY annoying water retention in my face and dark rings/spots forming.

Its so annoying when you find something that maybe can regrow some hair .. NOPE makes ur face fat and ugly instead lol!!

I mean the difference is quite substantial too, I think my face is more "fat" on 10% bodyfat and minoxidil than 20% bodyfat and no minoxidil, It looks like the skin just "hangs" more too, making the - usual very small nasobial folds - seems much larger than they are.

Annoying ...

yea your hair is still very dense, its good to catch hairloss early on that way you can have the best success in your treatments. I personally believe that finasteride is the best option since it stops hairloss genetically and lets you keep what you have at the very least. I just added it to my regimen about 3 month ago using it every other day to try and prevent sides, i started losing my hair at 19, regret not starting earlier like many others on the forum ...

BTW nizoral is an anti inflammatory shampoo (anti swelling) so it can help with the reactions your getting with minoxidil, not sure tho. again i say this at the end of every post LOL im not a Doctor, take my advice with a with a grain of salt

Cool have u seen any success with finasteride yet? Probably not been able to see (or experience) any regrowth so far, but have u stopped the loss per se?

yes, forsure when i started finasteride it was 2 months after my transplant and it stopped my shock loss, but thats a whole different story. i do think i have regrown a tiny bit more in my crown but cant say forsure (feel free to check out my post) , my transplant only covered my frontal hairline to about half my head going back, anything else is finasteride although i think its just been maintained. Although, in the past couple weeks i have been shedding more than usual so im trying to see what else i can do ...

This is a common thing from using minoxidil. There a group on facebook that uses minoxidil to grow beard, they usually get water retention on their face, first couple weeks or and it went away. Same thing happen to me.

do you think you developed malar bags or festoons on minoxidil since I think that's what happened to me
