Everything went pretty smooth

I did FUT - about 4000 grafts. The doctor said I had tons and tons and tons of 3 and 4 hair grafts so probably looking about 12K hairs

The part where he cut the strip was a b**ch - very uncomfortable

Congrats. You should keep one master thread of your journey. Any pics? Cost? Expectations?

13K, very reasonable IMO
no pics yet

I have great hair texture (very thick and wavy) but I have lost a lot also. I'm hoping it looks really great when it's done

I think he did fairly conservative hairline - like an NW1.5 to 2 I would say.

my hair situation is a little unique. When it's dry and with some product, it looks very thick (because my natural texture is super thick and wavy) When you see it wet, you can see I've lost quite a bit. I'm hoping the 12K hairs will bring me back to maybe 60% of my juvenile hair. I had lots and lots and lots of 3 and 4 hair grafts, which is great

honestly, before the surgery, if I blow dried my hair and put in some product, I could make it look really good to the untrained eye. With all this extra hair, it will look damn near like male model hair when it's done. I just gotta wait until basically my birthday (February 2019)

Nice one mate. As the guy above said, update us in one thread so newcomers can track your progress. Hope it all works out for you. Are you still using finasteride?

not much pain so far, I had no swelling first day but this is second day and I'm starting to get swelling in forehead and under eye area. The forehead one doesn't bother me but the under eye is bothering me

here are some before pics

I've added 12K hairs so I think I will be a very dense NW2 when all is said and done. The Doctor didn't move my hairline too far forward, he mostly worked on putting a lot of hairs and making it a much stronger hairline, which I appreciate because I'm sure I will lose more

I am on finasteride

Baseline your hair still looked pretty good so if this transplant works you should pretty much look full headed. Keep taking finasteride, are you using a ketoconazole based shampoo?

when it's dry my hair looks good...when it's wet, you can see that I've lost a lot

but the upside is that I did 4000 grafts (a huge session) and the doctor said I had tons and tons and tons of 3 and 4 hair grafts. I should look really excellent in 6 months. Doctor said my hair texture/donor density is perfect for this surgery.

yes I'm on nizoral/finasteride/rogaine

how old are you bro ?
all the graft are places on hairline ?

29

no he did maybe 30% on hairline...he put tons of hair all over my head. maybe 900 grafts in my crown (which was diffusing hard). He said he put lots and lots of 3 and 4 hair grafts on my crown

he didn't go super aggressive with the hairline because my family history indicates that i will lose a lot more hair down the line but that's okay. With the wavy, thick texture of my hair, even if i lose everything and say I get another transplant done, 8000 grafts will give me decent looking hair for the rest of my life

my hair looks very thin here because they put a bunch of saline water on it. When it's dry, it looks good

I can't wait to see how good it looks with the 12K new hairs added on it

why fut instead of fue?

Dr Kellar gave me a million reasons why FUE is garbage

big problem is that it's just not nearly as good for overall density as FUT. My situation is that I've lost a lot in the crown and front. I wanted to get a lot of density overall. FUE really is more for people who want to improve their hairline, not those who want to dramatically increase density

the cool thing for me is that I can already make my hair look decent with blowdry/product. Add another 12K hair and it will look nearly perfect. I just hope the finasteride and rogaine can keep my hair at least for another 15 years
