I started propecia about 1.5 years ago and it worked like a charm. Maintained and even got some regrowth. Hairline came down about one eighth of an inch. Mind you I am only 20, Started when I was 19 and all I wanted was maintenance. Even at this stage, all I want is maintenance or maybe 10% regrowth.

Now to why I have to quit. My estragon levels have gone to high. Doctor told me that they were too high and then he told me to take of my shirt and looked at my upper body. I had put on so much fat and also had a very mild case of gyno. Long story short I have decided to quit.

For the past week or so, I have been researching topicals. I have had good results with a anti-dht oral so I think I shoud stick to anti-dht topicals for now and leave minoxidil for a later stage. I have the following options from what researched!!

-Eucapil/fluridil
-Revivogen
-spironolactone
-Propexin/propexin N

If anyone here would be kind enough to point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. Remember I only want to maintain with maybe 10% regrowth. Money is not an issue and neither is hassle. I would be willing to do anything!!

I don't know if you have considered reducing the amount of finasteride you use each day or taking it every second day? That might help with side effects. A lot of people have done this with good results.

I've put on a bit of weight on the top of my body, but I do a light workout every day to keep it under check. No way Propecia can go yet.

Folligen might be a good option if you are dropping propecia. I've heard good things about this and it might be what your minoxidil routine needs.

Check out the product review section and decide for yourself which would be the most suitable replacement.

Folligen ?? How can you even compare that to propecia??

Read up on Eucapil some more .. i think thats the next best thing after Propecia but i am still reading up on it myself and deciding whether to use it or not

you need something to block dht and folligen wont do that...

I would think you would want to choose between spironolactone and Eucapil

Shandoli,
Give Eucapil a try for a a few months. If you need help finding vendors, let me know, but http://www.menspharma.com is a great place to order it.
I've been researching topicals for a long time now, and Eucapil and Proxiphen are probably the best topicals around. Proxiphen is wayyyy too cost prohibitive though, so I'd recommend giving Eucapil a try and see how you do.

I've been on it a month and a half and have been having early promising results. I'm not even tempted to use propecia at this point, although I understand why plenty of people do.

To follow up on what Fallout Boy said, I agree with him. Folligen won't guard against DHT significantly, it's just a nice relatively cheap addition for scalp health.

spironolactone may be good if you can tolerate applying it twice a day (it has a short half-life), but I'm betting that Eucapil is a stronger bet at this point.

My current topical only regimen is:
1) Eucapil
2) Folligen
3) Nizoral (every third day)
4) Amashisho (a topical I'm experimenting with...cheap, but maybe useless =))

I'm slowly dropping Revivogen. I think it was moderately helpful, but way too nasty on the hair...embarassing compared to the other topicals I'm using.

If i were you i'd take Nolvadex or Arimidex alongside the finasteride to control estrogen. That's what i do.

Hi,

I am using Eucapil (still early to know, started only a week ago) and minoxidil. I suggest these two as your core. If you want, you can also add folligen and nizoral cream but only as an extra two minoxidil and eucapil. I also quit propecia long ago. Don't waste money on Revivogen. It does nothing. It a very weak DHT inhibitor at the most...and expensive. I am sure you can maintain it fully and even regrow hair WITHOUT propecia with minoxidil/eucapil. Don't worry. :)

Good luck,

Eliaz

I don't understand why everybody is pointing to Eucapil, when Spironolactone has far more scientifc backup. spironolactone not only prevent DHT from getting to the hair, it also converts testosterone to estrogen, which is good for your hair. And it's really cheap, so I would go for spironolactone rather dan Eucapil. I've been on Eucapil for 6 months and it didn't do nothing for me.

spironolactone has a much shorter half life than Eucapil -apparently- does, thus it must be applied at least twice a day to be effective. I'm surprised Eucapil has done nothing for you, but I'd be curious as to what your results would be if you switched to spironolactone instead. I haven't seen a lot of positive testimonials about spironolactone unless people were using it with a bunch of other treatments. I've seen a bunch of positive testimonials about Eucapil, however, when used with few, if any, other treatments.
