I'm only 18 years and seriously worried about my hair. Ever since I was 13, I used to shed hair like crazy over pillows and in the shower. Sometimes I would even lose hair simply by running by hand through.

My question is whether I am balding or not since I have noticed my hairline recede in the past few months.

They call it androgenic alopecia but i'm starting to feel and think more and more that it's something else because of the world we are born and living in now...They say it's genetic but i think that we inherit only the susceptibility of being sensible to something that is in this f*****g world, maybe diet or something or the whole environment by itself... Who the f*** knows, what i know for sure is that more and more people are getting affected and they being younger and younger when it starts, and more aggressive than it's ever been... People will come and say that we did not notice until now because now we have social media, pictures, etc but i don't think it's the case...
The only thing you can do is to go to your dermatologist to get it confirmed and unfortunately the only "treatments" for it are 30 years old and come with some risks that you need to be aware before starting any kind of treatment.. The first one is finasteride, that addresses the "root" cause they say of baldness and inhibits the 5 alpha reductase who transforms a part of your testosterone in dihydrotestosterone, it inhibits aroun 70% of it, so your body will still have 30% of it, at least this is what the literature says.. You need to get more informed about this treatment because even if it's prescribed of every corner of the world as a cosmetic treatment, it is a hormonal altering drug and it comes with it's risks and even the ones who invented it don't know exactly how those enzymes really work, not even after 30 years they don't know exactly all the place they are located and how it may affect your body long term, but at least we have a lot of studies regarding it and you can find them all if you search for them on google..
The other treatment is minoxidil whom i don't recommend because in my opinion it can make much more damage than good and it's a burden to apply, if you use if for months or years and after you quit it or it stops working the impact that will have on your hair will be more tragic than just watching it go by it's natural course, depending on your pattern, and it has it's own sides, being discovered by mistake when they used it as a pill for hypertension and they saw that it grows hair all over the body, so they made a topical formula for the scalp but it goes systemic anyways, even if not so much as the pill and even is some suspect that it actually can cause the same damage as the pills anyways...
finasteride was discovered in a similar manner, by mistake, but they used it first for the treatment of enlarged prostates and they saw that hair started growing on the heads of the patients who were taking it..
The treatments are old, rudimentary, the literature behind them it's all over the place but in the same time, not very well understood even if 30 years passed since their discovery !
Do your own research and do it good not just listening to me or some others on the forums and in the first place and most important, go talk to a doctor about it, so you can get a proper diagnosis and evaluation...
You have Laser therapy and shampoos with ketoconazole that are supposed to help but from what i saw there is not much they can do against male pattern baldness, and of course dermarolling who is a technique that is kind of new i suggest informing yourself on that also...
But first go talk to your doctor and get a proper diagnosis !

Ok, but from my pictures does it seem that I am balding or am I just going crazy?

Take my opinion with a grain of salt because i'm not a hair loss expert and i'm not a doctor also but unfortunately from what i can see from the pictures, you are balding... You have temple recession and thinning on the left side... Post a picture from above with your whole head it should show more clearly ! And pictures with your hair from a couple of years ago would help also !

You also need to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis !

From a birds eye view my hair looks full unless I haven't taken a shower in a while (greasy)
