I Dunno What To Do You Guys - Started Losing Hair Last 3 Or 4 Years (i'm 29)

I have a balding patch in the crown and some moderate recession on the temples. The rest of my hair is nice and thick to where I can comb over it and it's still not too noticeable. I started using rogaine and it seems like the hair loss has stopped but I'm not 100% sure. I'm worried that this will get much worse

I want to do a hair transplant but it doesn't seem like a sure thing by any means. Every surgeon I look up online has very mixed reviews where some people seem happy but others say it's horrific. I don't want to do finnasteride because of how many people report terrible side effects. I'm also worried about doing the surgery and people mocking me because it will be so noticeable at first.

What would you guys recommend in my situation? It's hard to figure out what's going to happen based on my family patterns - my dad, uncle and grandpa on my dad's side were all totally bald but my mom's side has decent hair with my mom's brother having significantly better hair than me even.

Do you guys think I should just wait another 5-15 years and hope that technology for this becomes a lot better? I'm also worried if I do the surgery now that my hair loss may become a lot more aggressive to where it will just look like a mishmash of some natural hair and some baldness?

You seem to know what to do. You're using rogaine; you could use finasteride if you're down with it. As far as a hair transplant, no one can tell you what to do here, except that you're worried about balding in the first place, not about people mocking you. I'd be more worried about not being able to tell someone to f*** off, in that case. Things look good for the next couple years, regardless of the duplicitous cynics who will dig up a 15-year-old post to show you someone saying the same thing back then. As for right now, we have no new offerings for hair loss; but things look like they'll start popping up in the coming years.

As for right now...

Does finasteride regrow hair though or only maintains hair?

I kind of want to do a hair transplant because I think my hair + another 3000 grafts will look totally awesome if my current hair doesn't go away

What's the end game with a transplant though? At some point, the natural hairs will fall out and you will be half bald...and you can't even shave your head because of the scars

so I found a video that showcases my situation really well - I look almost exactly like this pre op (meaning great hair except for the temples and crown)

I think I am an excellent candidate for the surgery based on this gentleman's results but my only concern is that I'm only 29 and I'm losing hair. Will this get much worse 15-25 years from now to where surgery won't even be able to save it anymore?

Sounds like a similar situation to me. My crown is OK, but my recession/corners of hairline are maybe a little worse than the dude in the vid? hard to tell

(some of the pics are to show how I style it to hide my balding)

I have put of taking finasteride for 2 years out of fear of sides, but I took my first pill yesterday!

I think i'd likely also be a good candidate for a hair transplant. I'd like one next year, but it's about finding a good yet AFFORDABLE surgeon. I know everyone here is more ''See one of the very top surgeons or don't get a hair transplant'' but some of us will never be able too save that amount of money so we have to make the best with what we can actually afford. I'd need about 1800 grafts
