ok so when i get out of the shower, and dry my hair, my hair loss is not noticable at all really, and it feels liek i have a reasonable amount of thick hair to style etc............my hiar is thick, soft, fluffy and all of that good stuff

but after an entire day under a hat, or when i wake up in the mornings my hair is hideous, and diffuse thinning can be seen pretty much everwhere, i have no volume and the hair basically sticks to my head, it cant be reasonably styled and looks liek ive lost a tremendous amoutn of hair

sooo basically, how much f*****g hair have i lost? ha ha because if i took pictures right out of the shower, it woudl be hardly anything, but after i wake up it woudl be diffuese thinning all over, i really start to freak out. I just dont know what to think, or how to gauge my "actual " hair loss

anyone else have a similar situation?

Yep, after wearing a hat my so called "hair" looks like crap, too. I don´t know why it is like that. A tough situation. I wear a hat in order to hide my hairloss, but after wearing it my hair loss looks worse :hairy:

same here.
i think the oils from your head mix with your hair and weigh it down. plus the fact that the hat is pressing down on your head.

It's all in your head. Laying down in bed or putting a hat on causes hairs to lay in different directions, giving the appearance of thinner hair.

well

ok, obviously im not suggesting that when i wear a hat my hair count temporarily decreases and then regrows the next day........(i know i have the same number of hairs.................BUT the scalp coverage and texture and feel greatly diminishes to a degree that makes it impossible to style it in any normal way, and i think it truly reveals how little hair i have, while with thickening shapmoo right out of the shower, my hair can still pass for normal

As a man loses hair his scalp produces more and more sebum, a hat pushes the hair that remains down onto the scalp sebum and the hair mixes with the sebum and becomes oily as well, causing it to stick together much like it looks when you step out of the shower.

plus when you wash your hair the proteins on the outside of the shaft dry out and "stick out" giving the shaft extra thickness. As the day goes on and sebum builds up on the hair shaft again they are smoothed down making the shaft thinner again.

Anything which speeds up the process of the hairs getting sebum on them, e.g wearing a hat will make your hair look thinner.
