While thyroid levels, low or high, can cause hair thinning it does not cause male pattern baldness or have any real influence over male pattern baldness. A healthy thyroid is important for hair growth and overall hormonal balance.
But it can cause shedding which accelerates those prone to male pattern baldness even slow decline.

What is your tsh level with medication ?
I think you really need a big mistake and take a large dose to fall in hyperthyroidism

tsh was like 1.5 so within normal limits. FT4 was quite high though, around 2.1 with upper limit 1.7. Not the extreme high levels associated with aggressive diffuse thinning and wrecking hair, but I think high enough to cause some increased hairfall and hormonal changes. I know my itch has improved since lowering dose.

Tsh is perfect in 1.5 maybe with cutting the dose it will go a little more high but the ft4 will back into the range limit.

Probably your itchy is physicological..you said the itchy lowered right after change the dose ? Well the t4 has an long half life (7 days) , probably it will take around 2 weeks to notice any changes

I was surprised by how immediate the change was too considering the half life. Expected to have wait a few weeks but it ended up being a few hours...

I can’t imagine it being psychological considering how awful it can be, but there maybe other factors at play
