this question is For those who're on the Big-3 or even finasteride or minoxidil only.

what Norwood were you when you started treating yourself. How long ago was it and what Norwood are you now?..

Example.

Started at: Nw2
Treatment: 1 mg finasteride.
Now 5 months later: Nw3.

its easier keeping in touch with other peoples progress through a single thread this way.

Started at Norwood 2.5, thinning into a full NW3
Treatment, see below
Limited regrowth, but did get regrowth in a small but cosmetically significant area of the upper temples, rounding out the once 'angular' corners and strengthening the center patch and existing yet thinning hair to transform me from a "Phil Collins" type wispyness into more of a "Jude Law" thick and contiguous hairline up front. In effect, not much scalp acreage reclaimed, but existing and thinning acreage was significantly thickened and strongly remains so 2 years later. I think I am still seeing very slow but continuous, hair by hair, reclamation of the bald scalp. And, it's noticeable! Success!!

I started at NW1 but DIFFUSED through the hairline (concentrated on the middle and left hairline)

Treatment for the first 2yrs consisted of 1.25mg of Finasteride and Nizoral 2% (actually I used the Nizoral slightly less then 2yrs... More around 1.5yrs)

Now two years later, I'm still more or less a NW1 (duh, I'm not a receder but a thinner for f*cks sake). My front middle has thinned a bit and my left hairline a little more then the middle.

Things really looked good from month 8 - 18 (was able to start spiking my hair up in the front) and then last June till present I have this persistent shed... At first it was moderate (25+ hairs just from the front and after washing. This means even more was lost while washing so I would guesstimate a total frontal loss of 50+ hairs) while now it seems to have toned down somewhat (still get 1 or 2 dozen smaller miniaturized hairs with lighter pigment when I wash/comb/style my hair).

So far though all this has been contained up front with no major thinning anywhere else.

Started At : NW2 temples
Loss Diffuse , no patch. just really thin behind hairline.

Treatment : 1mg finasteride + minoxidil.

shed within 10 days of treatment. Dont know whether it was a minoxidil shed or finasteride but the shed was from all over especially back and sides of head where i had thickest hair. Ditched minoxidil after first month. Stuck to the finasteride.

Now 4 months later. Back and sides really thin from shed. No cosmetic difference as such. I seriously do not know what sort of hairloss this is. my hair is about 3 inches long, and when i slick it back even when its wet i cant see scalp. If i part it in the center the very front is thin , but the rest is ok.

going into 5th month , shedding 50-60 hair still, but hair not "looking" worse . but feeling worse when it touch as i touch scalp right away when i poke through. Not regrown a single shed hair but i guess its just been 5 months.

Started at: Norwood 1,5 (left)/ Norwood 1 (right), diffuse thinning on top.
Regimen: 1 mg Propecia (July 2004- July 2005), 1/4 Proscar (July 2005 - now), 1% Nizoral, Green tea.
Current status: Norwood 2 (left)/ Norwood 1,5 (right), thinning sides, diffuse thinning on top has slightly advanced.

You can figure i am not that happy with my results so far. Since i've started treatment my hairline has really started to receed a major. The thinning on the sides (right above my temples) seems odd to me. My initial problem area, the top of my head, is slightly worse.
I've had my ups and downs and some periods of major shedding, especially after switching from Propecia to Proscar. Right now my shedding has slowed down quite a bit, which makes my hopeful about the possibility to get some regrowth on top. The temples seem the hardest to stop, though.

Sorry, forgot to mention that i am not on minoxidil. Seriously considering to add spironolactone, though.

Howdy.

See the “View My Regimenâ€￾ tab below.

Been on finasteride & minoxidil for nearly 3 years, Cu peptides for about a year (recently dropped nizoral and converted to organic Morrocco Method shampoos).

Had total maintenance, no regrowth but then perhaps that can be expected of someone who hasn’t ever used minoxidil twice a day.

Heads up all.

PS - oh, i don't know what Norwood i am either. I have a perfect hairline but some crown thinning but no bald patches. Stay tuned for my 2 year and 11 month update this week.
