I've been on big 3 for 9 months now, and I'm noticing a lot of shorter hair within my hairline, maybe about 1/3 the length of the rest of my hair. These different hair were certainly not there when I started treatment. But how can I tell if these hair are new growth, or if it is miniaturized hair replacing the better hair that used to be there? Is there a way to tell?

I just don't know if I'm losing or gaining. Some days it looks worse, some days better. I do however notice far less hair fall during showers in the last 2 months.

I think you are gaining, and i think you been through at least two stages of shedding.

Each shedding brings new hairs growing back (some vellus and some terminal), apparently there should be a higher potential of getting terminal hairs after each shedding.

Vellus hairs dont grow longer than around 1 centimeter..

Your genetics will be a vital factor in your success ;)

Thank you, Most of these hairs are definitely longer than 1 cm, and I know I definitely been through 2-3 intense sheddings since starting finasteride. Maintenance is all I wished for, so I am now cautiously optimistic!
