Here is a link to making your own topical, however they use a cream. If you are using Aloe Gel you should first dissolve your MSM crystal, (not crushed tablets as tablets have binders that may not dissolve) in hot tap water. Then add it to your gel and stir well. This what has worked for me. They use a 15% MSM ratio.

What kind of results have you had with the MSM topically?

I really haven't been using it long enough to say. I use all the things you see listed below so how can one tell what's having the most effect.

I know it will turn your hair yellow if it is light, blond or gray since it is a sulfur derivative. For that reason I have cut it back to a couple of times a week.

What I can say is that it makes your hair feel thicker, making for a bit better coverage and also gives it a more coarse feel and taken internally it definitely makes the hair and nails grow faster. I do not think it will turn vellus hair into terminal, meaning it does not grow new hair.

I make a spray, I use aloe vera juice, 99.8 percent pure (which is intended for drinking). To 10 oz. of juice I add 15 Grams of MSM powder after dissolving the MSM powder in a small amount of warm water. I usually put it on about an hour after minoxidil and it cuts the oily feel that minoxidil leaves.

Aloe has transdermal properties and minor SOD properties. MSM supposedly helps connective tissues or fibroblasts I think they are called, if so it might have some potential for hair growth but it would very minor I am guessing.

Overall I rate it as a nice addtion to my program, but hardly a key component. It is cheap, easy to use and does no harm I can see (except for the yellow hair). I will continue to take it internally and topically.
