So I've been using mostly liquid up until now, which I just apply to the scalp and let it dry/absorb on its own. But now with foam I've heard different techniques of applying it. One is to put it on the scalp and gently massage the area with your fingers until the foam is all absorbed in the skin and the area is dry. Another is to just simply apply it and let it be wet on the scalp allowing it to be absorbed into the skin naturally.
