Thanks for the info.

1) Is minoxidil 5% has to be applied into dry scaple?
2) How do you guys apply it in the morning? Wash your hair first and apply it again or just apply it without rinsing?

Sorry if my questions sound stupid.

Thanks

dry scalp or towel dried hair is fine.
Some days I lightly blow dry the top of my head then apply. Other days I towel dry and apply it when my hair is damp but my scalp is pretty much dry.

at night I just apply it a couple hours before bed.

Hope this helps.

BHD. You have said several time your minoxidil dries in 45 minutes or so right? What kind of minoxidil are you using? How dry are we talking about anyway?

Dry to the eye?

or

Dry to the touch?

I use Rogaine brand 5% minoxidil. It's usually 45-1hr depending on if I'm sitting on my *** while it dries or if I'm moving around....
It's dry to eye and touch on the scalp in that time. My hair is still damp but once I blow dry it (very low heat setting) there's no trace of greasiness.

It's weird it actually makes my hair feel thicker. The reason I say this is because I just wen't a whole day without it and it just didn't feel as thick or full that day. I've noticed this in the past when I skipped an application.

Now I'd like to add something that I've just started to realize....The second application is a little greasier and takes longer to dry if I don't wash my hair first. The reason for this is probably because there's already dry minoxidil in my hair along with hairspray. The scalp still dries quickly but the minoxidil that gets in my hair takes a while.
I've never really gave that second application much thought since it's at night a couple hours before bed.

BHD I also use Regaine (Rogaine for the UK!!) and this stuff takes at least 2-3 to dry!!! (no exageration here)

And I also agree that it makes my hair look fuller and thicker especially when I wake up in the morning!!!

I guess it differs from person to person. Maybe my head throws off more heat or something as silly as that sounds. I also have to put on just about 2ml per application since my hair absorbs a lot of the minoxidil and there's no way I can effectively cover the entire top of my scalp with 1ml.
I'm honestly not exagerating with my drying time either :) .

Ty are you saying that it takes your hair to dry in 2-3 hours or the minoxidil on your scalp.

If I didn't blow dry my hair I could see it taking much longer for it to fully dry in my hair. That's why I usually say that I blow dry after 45-60 minutes.

Cass..I should have also mentioned that from time to time but not too often I use Dr. Lee's plain old 5% minoxidil and that stuff dries in about 15 minutes....When I first started to use it I thought it was the greatest thing ever, but the higher alcohol content won't allow me to use it daily.

BHD, stick my Regaine (brand) on my scalp, 2-3 hours later it is still greasy on my skin and damp in my hair !!

I also find I need to put around 1.5ml -2ml each application (twice a day that's 3ml-4ml a day) just to get the stuff everywhere, it makes little sense to me that if some guy is trying to fill in a bald spot at the back of his head he should be using the same amount as someone who is trying to treat the back, top and front !!!

I realise there is an increased risk of side effects from systemically absobed minoxidil at this extra amount, but the way I see it is that Evil Knievel spent the whole 1970's taking not disimilar risks and he's fine now.

I concur. That is some good, sound logic.
