Anyone seen any recent data that says how many people are using Propecia right now?

Just wondering how popular it is...

It's hard to know because so many buy generics.

I think the last number I heard was 500,000 or more on Propecia itself...but that doesn't count proscar, fincar, finpecia, etc

Is that a lot? Seems like a drug that can help men not go bald would be immensely popular since a lot of men deal with this problem. But maybe 500,000 is a lot in the drug world, I don't really know. :)

I've been using the Merck brand - Propecia since I was 23 years old. I have never used the generic brand and I can only obtain this from the united kingdom.

It works very well for me and it maintains hair. It does not regrow hair for me.

Hope this helps.

No side effects. However, I am starting to recede in the temple regions.

Is that common, no regrowth, I mean that is the main reason I want to take it?

Yes it's common ,about 40-45% have no regrowth but they maintain, another 40-45% have some sort of regrowth, and 10-15% or so have no results at all.

If every balding guy in the world knew about this forum and saw the success stories, Cipla would be raking it in...

Most men think how I thought:
1. They first notice receding in front, and believe what FDA says, that propecia only works in back (not true).
2. They think they will not get worse, and that they already lost everything they will lose. Balding is such a slow process.
3. It finally gets bad enough that they want to do something about it, but they read that it only stops hairloss, and does not regrow. They don't want to risk side effects or pay lots of money just to maintain their NW3. They want a NW1 or nothing.
4. They do nothing, and it gets to NW5. Then they wish they had their NW3 back.
5. They accept it, or get a piece, or get butchered.

Very few men get on propecia early. And fewer get on once they lost a lot, unless they had hair transplant's they want to maintain.

I suggested propecia to many men. All of them got offended or embarrassed.

I could not even get my brother to stay on it for $7 a month of Fincar. He just looked in the mirror, and saw that after 9 months he was still losing hair fast. So he got off it. He was not even having side effects. He knew everything I told him, but he just did not think he was a responder.
