How long does spironolactone block androgen receptors for?

6 hrs?
More?
less?...

Is there any studies that have tested how long spironolactone binds to the androgen receptors for?

thanks for any help.

someone here posted that hew saw a study that seemed to show three hours or so. it was about two months ago. cant remember his name though. you should be applying it as much as you realistically can i do know that.

I never heard any. Just that when it is in the blood, it has a half life of 10 minutes. so no worries of systemic effects.

80 mins? That is NOTHING!

Surely that cant be right...it would be a waste of time even applying it twice per day.

Even 3 hrs seems too small. Surely someone has to know definitively. I dont trust wiki either...

For the umpteenth time: in some of the hamster flank organ tests, the topical spironolactone was applied only ONCE A DAY, and not even over weekends at all, and yet there was a clear antiandrogenic effect.

Do you understand that that's something else entirely? How long spironolactone stays bound to androgen receptors is one thing, how long spironolactone stays in the blood after taking it orally (or in the local skin after applying it topically) is something else.

spriro's breakdown product, carenoic acid, has a half life for something like 10-hours.

Carenoic acid also blocks androgen receptors. So if spironolactone is at full strength for an hour and a half or so, and then weaker for another hour and a half, then is turned into another receptor blocker thats at full strenght for roughly 10 hours..............................you probably have a 12-14 hour window of pretty damned good receptor-blockage.

This is why the docs advise using it twice a day.................Dr. Peter Proctor states on his website that in his experience topical spironolactone is about as good as finasteride usage. Since they work in different ways, combining both should be EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE, probably nearing castrate-type effectiveness to be honest.

I just wish I knew if EGCG is as good as spironolactone. I know spironolactone can be made to penetrate good though. I hate grinding stuff up, or paying a lot.

thankyou Michael Barry and Bryan.
I will continue to use my spironolactone 2% topical at night.

I make it with -

• 80% Alcohol(90% strength)
• 20% Glycerine

Does that sound like a good vehicle?

And in the morning I have added spironolactone to my Nizoral 1% shampoo.

the vehicle is good, though it might be 10x as good if you add octyl salicilate to the mix.

As for spironolactone in your shampoo: make enough that you can use it up in a month, or it might go bad. Also, I don't know what it will do to the nizoral's effectiveness, both the vehicle, or the keto. I would not mix up something in a proven treatment. If you want to use Nizoral every day, alternate pure nizoral with nizoral/spironolactone so that you know for sure that you are getting the effects of the nizoral. I think keto is stable at neutral pH, and spironolactone at acidic pH.

hmmm...never heard of it.

What makes this so good? And where would one get it?

Thats sounds reasonable and safe. I will probably do that then.

octyl salicylate is one of the main components of sun block. It can increase finasteride absorption by 10x, in some studies. Since it and finasteride are both steroids, I suspect it would have the same effect on spironolactone. google it. it might be at the chemistrystore.
