25 y/o here and I started using minoxidil about 3 weeks ago, and recently theres been a lot of hair falling out in the shower. I read that it is normal but its pretty scary seeing all of it fall >100 hairs in the shower. How long does this shedding phase on average last? Pretty discouraging and I kind of want to stop using minoxidil because of this.

There is no scientific evidence that such a "shedding" phase exists and no minoxidil hair count study has shown an initial drop in hair density before an increase. I never experienced it and I have great success with minoxidil. I think it's a lot of people whipping themselves into a panic with compulsive thinking reinforced by negative feedback loops on the internet.
Keep using the medication and grow your hair or stop and lose it, it's a pretty simple choice and this subject has been beaten into the ground.
