Hi all,

I had experienced gradual hair thinning since past few months and started a treatment comprising of biotin tablets (currently 1 each day) and finasteride 1 mg tablets (currently 1 each day). I have been on this since around 1.5 months, but I am yet to observe any noticeable improvement in my hair fall. I also had itching scalp and some flaking issues and my dermatologist has switched a number of creams/lotions for this. Currently i am using clobetasol propionate and salicylic acid lotion. I would like to know that how long should i wait before considering an alternative prescription as its been more than a month since i started this course and have not noticed any significant improvement. Is it because Finasteride takes more time show effect? I am a bit stressed out on this. Will really appreciate some help here.

Regards

as early as 2 months for good responders, for some it takes a year or more. Also, just maintaining hair is a success. With this you would never see results but it is obviously working to maintain your hair. For some the shedding never stops but the hair grows back at the same rate at which it falls out. As I said, even good responders will take 2 months. You are only at 1.5 months. That is nothing at all. The hair needs to slowly enter it's dormant part of it's life cycle, shed, wait up to 4 months in dormancy, and then grow back to the length of the rest of your hair. This takes a lot of time (more than just a few weeks) and it may take 2 or more of these cycles before any noticeable regrowth, or until it reaches a strength where it won't shed at a short length

If you maintain the amount of hair you got..that itself will be a victory..finasteride should work in most cases. But than smoking/drinking/obesity all have a factor. You need to have a good lifestyle for good hair..

Try to shampoo your hair a bit less. Also add minoxdil to your regime..infact that should be your first step than taking finasteride to start with.

I would really advise you to take a semen analysis test as well after 3 months of using finasteride.I am not scaring you but just get it done..
