I know there are various forms of mono - but, on paper, the base type sounds very appealing: lace-like ventilation, w single & double knots, & a longer shelf life.

Well, if it were something spectacular, everyone here would be using it - so what're the drawbacks?

I've never tried mono systems, but apparently they last longer but have a less realistic base, so probably not good for an exposed hairline.

I've seen you can also get realistic mono systems with lower densities, though, for example New Times Hair are selling this one for $75:

75$! Thanks. I already ordered a medium density poly surround unit.

Too bad the density is terrifyingly low on this.

I have worn fine welded mono, and they are just as good as lace unit. Not comparable to the older or thicker mono units.
There are so many types of mono it's hard to keep up. Mine is non-descript but I've seen a company run through all their monofilament bases & the list is exhaustive.

I believe there's even Super-Fine Welded Mono - may be mistaken, but, notwithstanding, I'm stunned by the number of types of mono bases out there. Whether or not they're good is left to be seen! But I can't stand UTS, lace is best but a bit brittle. Excited to see how mono is.

Do you think it might be a good idea to get a mono unit if lace is in short supply at the moment? What is the status of the supply of mono units compared with lace?

Did you order it from New Hair Times? I think the density is far too low on that unit - it looks like a balding/thinning head of hair, which is exactly what we DON'T want. I think that company does mono units in thicker densities though.

I've been looking more into mono-hair systems. At the moment, I feel like they are more numerous than lace. Still, I won't be getting back into wearing hair systems until May or June unfortunately. This market has to be a slow one, cause it's been almost over a year now.

Update: Some lace-front wig I ordered came in. The lace is neither french nor swiss, but some type of mono. It's Chinese so I can't tell much about the wig, but I like the material, the mono.

Waiting on some 6 by 9" mono PU pieces...

Oh, also it seems mono stock pieces often come in densities heavier than medium-light, which is good but thinner than my bio hair, forcing me to always keep it short, short.

Can we see some pics? How is the quality? Also, if you ordered lace but they gave you something else without telling you, that's wrong on their part. Still, if the mono base is good enough then does it matter?

You must have quite thick density bio hair then?
