When making a template, should you just cover the scalp/ bald area only or is it Better to go down into the bio hair where the strong / good growth is?

My stylist leaves a *little* extra just over the bio hair. You can always shave the area down if necessary. It also gives you a bit more flexibility if the unit starts developing a thin spot early.

I was wondering about this because my bio hair has diffuse thinning on the sides and back, so wouldnt overlapping a bit help with that?

So how does leaving that little extra bit on the template provide more flexibility if there’s a thin spot? How would you cover up the thin area?

As far down as bare scalp and low quality wispy hair. There is no point in sacrificing good healthy hair unless:

a) the piece will be just a strip = smaller area to bond = less secure potential
b) you want a relatively uniform shape, though an asymmetrical shape has its own advantage
