UPDATE:

http://imgur.com/a/MruGk#0

With some delay, i uploaded the pictures. In the meantime I went for a checkup to confirm male pattern baldness and get detailed scalp pictures, which should be available in a couple of days. I also have the official papers confirming male pattern baldness and seborrheic dermatitis (which is basically oily scalp+dandruff). The same clinic diagnosed me 2 years ago and I also have access to those records and pictures (pretty much the same as now, but more hair back then)

I will also check the link between gluten sensitivity and itchy scalp/dandruff ( http://celiacdisease.about.com...A-Gluten-Allergy_3.htm ). I will probably switch between gluten and non gluten to check when and if itchiness comes back. I will try to explain the reasoning in later posts.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It took me almost 10 years to notice something that should've been obvious. Since 16, I started washing my hair more frequently. The more i washed it, the more greasy it got. It would appear that's how scalp oil production works. It produces back that which you strip away. By 17, i started losing hair. Nowadays my DSLaboratories treatment (shampoo+ conditioner) is supposed to be used daily. I'm losing more hair than i used to.

I've started doing some research on no shampoo and the more i read, the more sense it makes. Up until 70-90 years ago, people rarely washed their hair. It was usually once a week. But they did comb the hair, which means the oil on the scalp is applied to the whole hair length.

You can google "no shampoo", you will get many stories about it, including a test made in Australia by a radio anchor. This is the wiki page for starters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_poo

My question is, could you think when did you change your washing habits, by how much, and how did the hair loss respond? How much do you leave the shampoo on? When did your hair loss start in the first place? Did you even change washing habits at all? Is it warm or cold water you use to wash the hair? I am aware the current correlation is "you have to wash greasy hair, because it's unhealthy otherwise", but i just think we're the ones disrupting a good system in the first place. I would also expect bald people to be washing/shaving their scalp daily, which if my theory is correct, would condemn them to "forever bald". And balding people washing hair more because hair thinning is more noticeable when hair is not washed. There's also that thing with homeless people not going bald that got me thinking too, they don't wash their hair either.

I am 27 years old, as I mentioned earlier i started losing some hair by 17, it got worse over time, I initially wanted to use propecia at 23 but decided i don't want to risk my hormonal balance. I used minoxidil at 25 and had good results after 3 months, but i keep getting random arrhythmias on it, so i really want to use it as a last resort option only (if that). Also, my hair loss gets extremely bad if i go on masturbation binges ( some days i do 2-4). Nofap appeared to help every time i managed to stay clean for at least a month. So i will start doing that again too.

Today or tomorrow i will upload pictures of my scalp. I have a Canon EOS450D with standard lenses and standard flash. I know it's very important to properly document changes, so i ask you what suggestions do you have for me to take pictures? i figured i'll use my bathroom which has no window, so no natural light, and do 2 pictures, one with flash one without, every 2 weeks or so. I will also add a standard a4 paper for white balance. I want to make it as official as possible so i really need input on methodology.

My plan for minimum 3 to 6 months is:

- stop using shampoo entirely
, only wash hair with coldish water every 3-4 days and [i have yet to decide if on each 7th day use baking soda soap or diluted solution and then rinse with vinegar].
- not masturbate/fantasize, only sex 1-4 times/week.
- brushing hair once, max twice daily
- lukewarm first, finishing in cold water showers.
- generic vitamin complex, which i used before
- no hairgrowth medication
- exercise 3 times/week, 10 minutes meditation daily, stretching daily

If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Obviously if you wish to join in on the test, you're more than welcome.

I plan to do a survery on washing habits, but i first need to figure out the exact questions to be asking. I will make a new topic for that one and i hope you could help on that.

When I started thinning I washed my hair 1/three days. Recent threads got some postivive results from scalp massage and another other unnameable treatment. If these intense stressors on the scalp help, I doubt the act of washing hair could hurt it.

My input:

You are insane because just like everything else balding is mostly genetics.. for example:

Havent you met some people who are naturally ripped and have nice muscles and no fat without doing exercise or diet while others work out everyday and diet down all the time and still look like ****?? why?? cuz genetics

Havent you met some people who are naturally smart/intelligent who learn and know a lot of **** without much effort while others study everyday and still cant learn aswell or know half the stuff?? why?? cuz genetics

Now

Havent you met people who have ****ing LOTS of hair who masturbare 10 times/day and wash their hair 3 times/day and dont even care do a lot of steroids that speed up baldness and STILL have FULL heads of hair while others dont do any steroids, take care of their hair a lot (wash only once/day at the most, use minoxidil, finasteride, azelaic acid etc) and still have NW4 baldness at 20 years old? why?? cuz genetics

GENETICS plays the biggest role here.. i guarantee you that even if that **** you are about to do helps with baldness, it will only help a little (not enough to be noticeable).. so just stop, the only thing that will happen is drive people away cuz of your dirty hair's smell and u will suffer from holding on masturbating or sex

Do you really think that if these things were so effective people would still be using meds? lol

People need to stop worrying so much because genetics is what will rule your hairloss.. you can only delay it a little bit and thats why you see dudes using all the meds to prevent baldness and are still bald by the age of 30

Using meds is ok but doing this crazy thing? please dude stop.. just stop.. I swear this will only make you a "virgin" for 3-6 months and thats it

I apologize for my rudeness lol.. im just being straight up

Well I hope this works for you. I would say that finasteride and minoxidil are the way to go as they are proven but if you are getting arrythmias on minoxidil then it could be dangerous for you to try again.

Also I've seen quite a few bald homeless people. male pattern baldness is more genetics than environment in many cases. Though there are many cases with other problems where the environment can cause a difference in the expression of a gene.

It can actually be beneficial imo to wash your hair daily and even twice a day with shampoo that are "gentle" and contain goodies for the scalp and hair.

@Agahi

I would asume scalp massage is good, and i wouldn't call it a stressor, that's what combing the hair can do too. Also, massaging has nothing to do with removing oils from scalp, which shampoo does.

What other unnamable treatments are you talking about?

@BrianP
I am well aware of the consensus on genetics. I definitely think it can have something to do with genes, but young people should not be affected, if the information in genes should manifest, i would expect it to start after 50s-60s, as they used to. I am looking for other variables that could explain the process.

You are welcomed to stick to your oppinion, but could you please answer the questions?

@aj218

Arrythmias are very scary, and always happen on minoxidil. Some people say it's no big deal but i can't ignore it. Could you please answer the questions on washing habits?

@Jacob

Exactly, that's what everyone thinks these days. But why? Up until 60 years ago, 1/week was the norm, if that. The more you are being told to use a shampoo, the more you'll need to buy one. Maybe that's why we're being told that?

I can't see my post, how could you? Was it deleted?

@ Agahi, i thought it's unnamable because you can't remember the name but could look it up.
