How did Nizoral make it into the Big 3?

I can't figure out how Nizoral ever made it into the so called "Big 3" list?

The FDA has only approved Propecia and Rogaine for treating male pattern baldness, with possible approval on its way for the lasercomb.

Did some forum member invent the term "Big 3"? If so, the company that makes Nizoral surely owes this person a lot of gratitude!

People in the Propecia studies used Nizoral 2% twice a week. The shampoo was proven in a study to work about as effectively as minoxidil 2%.

It's just because it's a convenient addition to minoxidil and finasteride - the Big 2. They are hassle free and easy to use together, a pill, a topical, and a shampoo you use every three days. On it's own I doubt Nizoral would be a particularly effective treatment.

If it was down to effectiveness, not just ease of use, in my opinion the Big 3 would include minoxidil, finasteride and a copper peptide.

It was actually T-Gel in the Propecia study; everyone thinks it was Nizoral for some reason.

There is a paper though that shows that Nizoral was effective in hair growth as Jayman said. Also scalp health is important when you are using all these treatments and when you have excess sebum.

Big 3:

finasteride
minoxidil
nizoral

Great 3:

dutasteride
minoxidil
nizoral

Great 5:

dutasteride
minoxidil
nizoral
Folligen/Tricomin
spironolactone

Great 5 is for hardcore people.

I actually think Nano deserves some place in here as well.

If you block about 80% of both type 1 and type 2 hair will live healthy and stong. I don't think there is a point to use nizoral or minoxidil unless you need regrowth. Most young people who have just started to thin should just consider the magic pill. :hairy:
