I hear alot of people going on that success depends on the status of the folicle, I mean if its dead or on it's way out.

How long before a folicle really is dead? 1 year? 2 Years? 50 years? Of is it we just don't know and is dependent of the person.

Thanks guys

I would expect there is a degree of variance from person to person.

Judging from memory and looking at older pictures I have of me I was able to recover hair which had been lost at around 9 -11 years prior to starting treatment.

Thanks GeminiX, nice pics by the way!

You seemed to get a massive response from finasteride? after only being on it for 6 months and having a fair old horse shoe.

I not as bad but on the way there so this gives me massive hope.

What was your inital regiem?

It depends how aggressive your hair loss is. The more susceptible your hair is to androgentic alopecia, the faster it will degrade. Some people go from a NW1 to a NW3 in 20 years, then some go from a NW1 to a NW3 in 2 years. Therefore as GeminiX said, it varies from person to person.

Prior to finasteride I took Black Cohosh and washed my hair with Nizoral for about 6 months, I also tried Minoxodil for a little while too, but I kept getting allergic reactiona to it (I had forgotten all about that until I read someone else mention Black Cohosh a week or so back).

I didn't notice any progress at all on this regimen, but it was only six months so hard to tell. I then started low doses Androcor and Ovysmen plus 1/4 tab of Proscar once I had been diagnoesd as gender dysphoric; the results were fast and better than expected.

*Maybe* the initial regimen of Black Cohosh and Nizoral helped, but maybe not :)

Reviewing your photos, how much is hair transplant hairs and how much is original lost hair regrowth?

Since I understand anti-androgens or DHT inhibitors are known more for maintaining and keeping existing hair then GeminiX what do you attribute it to, increases in estrogen? But estrogen does not grow hair does it?

I have always thought that maybe if I torque back my Testosterone a slight bit, it might help me with the hair but most people don't even want to go there or discuss it. I don't want to go as far as you did, but congrats on taking charge of your body, you look allot better now!

He changed from man to women how can u say he looks a lot better now, there is no real comparison..... I think androcor is th emain thing that helped him or her getting hair back... I read that a lot of transsexuals get most of their hair back from their treatment!

Ah, the hair looks allot better now as a woman compared to well when he was a man he HAD NO HAIR! So yes I would agree with you, "no comparison". I stand behind my quote, ..."you look allot better now!", that is if hair makes the man, I mean the women. :)

Thanks Hairific, always nice to get positive feedback :)

It's not always easy to post here, lots of thinly veiled bigots and ingnorant folk in the world; I feel it's only fair I stick around though, to try and help others. I receved a huge ammount of help and advice here when I was first considering ways to get my hair back so feel I should try to repay that in kind.

Yeah, good job GeminiX. This is a hair loss forum; and you've got valuable results and insights; that is what people here should be looking at; not how you choose to live your personal life.
