How Common Are Persistent Sides After Discontinuation/pfs Really?

It's not clear how common.

As the side effects are consistent, and now backed by medical journals, they can't be argued to be due to hypochondria. The same side effects are also virtually never observed in users of minoxidil, who have the same personality profile but are taking a different drug.

Thanks, I have suffered anxiety, depression, and brain fog recently, although it may have been attributed more to me switching around antidepressant and anti-anxiety meds and being devastated by hair loss. Still I don't want to risk finasteride anymore. I am going the rug route. Peace out everyone!

I had been taking Finasteride for 2,5 years before realising that all of the psychosomatic symptoms I was dealing with were due to it. These symptoms include heart palpitations, daily panic attacks especially after exercise and during the night, brain fog, increased anxiety, loss of creativity and difficulty concentrating. I stopped taking the pill two weeks ago and the symptoms are still there. Hopefully they will subside with time, but right now the panic attacks and the racing heart make it very hard for me to sleep at night. I may have developed a panic attack disorder which even though is not fatal, it is extremely annoying and difficult to deal with... Fortunately, I didn't have any sexual side effects apart from a reduced libido, but the mental side effects are too many and serious to be neglected...

I strongly advise against taking this poison. It might help with hair loss, but its side effects are not worth the risk in my opinion...

You never had any of those issues ever in your life until right after you started propecia? Yes that is very strange

This drug inhibits neurosteroids from being produced, specifically Allopregnanolone. The pathway finasteride blocks also blocks the gaba A receptor in the brain. Funny none of this info is on the leaflet and dermatologists won't tell you that.

The 5ar2 pathway serves lots of purposes in the body.

If drug companies could simply develop a drug that strictly lowers DHT without inhibiting enzymes that would be a better option.

I got off dutasteride about a year ago and still have some sides. I used to think they were bs too but it happened. I believe I am VERY slowly getting better though.
