How can I find a dermatologist who knows a little more about hair loss?

My dermatologist is pretty clueless when it comes to finasteride, its side effects, and male pattern hair loss in general. I'm thinking of going to someone else. I would also like to get a scalp biopsy, because I've got some weird thinning going on on the sides and back of my head (I'm just hoping to God I don't have DUPA and it's Telogen Effluvium or something). Can any dermatologist give a scalp biopsy? She didn't even look at the sides of my head when she first prescribed it to me, she just looked at the vertex. If I were a doctor I would look all over to rule out any weird ****.
Would it be better to find a hair transplant surgeon to give me a biopsy?

I don't know anything about scalp biopsies.

Do some googling and look for dermatologists in your area who specialize in hair loss; there must be some. Call hospitals and ask if they have any dermatologists who list hair loss as a specialty.
