How Are You Cutting Your Hair These Days?

I have not had my hair cut since the start of the pandemic back in March.

I've not been going out ever without a cap so everything has been fine. But looking at it today the difference in quality, colour and length is too much between my bio hair and the piece.

Would using a high grade on the clippers work well? I wear a mostly messy style.

Yeah. A clipper would work well. I use one. And it is NOT high grade at all. I purchased extra guards...I think you can go up to 2 inches. You really can't go wrong with them, for the guards won't let it be cut any shorter than the specific length you choose. It is really easy. I strongly suggest you get a wireless one because you are going to be looking at the back of your head with a mirror at first while doing it. The inconvenience of holding a mirror to look at the back and the limited access with a corded one must be very inconvenient.

EDIT: I strongly suggest you get a WAHL brand clipper. They have the oddest, but most terrific, customer service. If you need a new blade they just ask the model number and send you one. They don't ask for a serial number or anything. I have never seen a company like it.

If you are going to do this at home...

1. Don't buy cheap clippers, spend the $$$ for Wahl, or Andis.

2. Don't cut your hair with your system on.

3. Be careful trying a fade... especially if you are doing it yourelf. I would do a single length buzz.

4. Go with a cordless... you will thank me later.

I have a wireless wahl. And a wired one from when I used to buzz my hair.

I don't want a fade or anything. I've booked an appointment with my stylist for next week but with how cases are going up here I will be back to fully DIY in no time.

Another worry. I have only placed my system on as of Wednesday. This is tape on a French lace piece with a poly perimeter (but not at the front). Will it be possible to take the system off? Ideally without a lot of traction alopecia.

1. Traction alopecia happens from repeated tearing out of the hair.

2. Your system should NOT be glued to your bio hair, it should be glued to shaved scalp.

3. You can always take the system off. Just use some alcohol on a cloth to wet the area between the tape and your scalp. Why do you want to take it off if you have only had it on for two days?

The main aim of the appointment is that get my bio hair cut. Maybe some colouring on the hair itself too.

I still have some hair where the system lies, but I buzz it every time of course.

It will be on Monday I get the appointment done.

Just curious...do you have the wireless blue and white WAHL one with the colour-coded guards? That is the one I have. I love it. They were pretty hard to purchase during the worst of COVID, but I think one can get them easily now.
