So,

I have said in previous posts that I was on finasteride for around 13 years, and came off in Nov/2015 til Feb/2016.

Just before going back on it, I ordered a hormonal panel, just to see how I was without finasteride - I DO NOT have a baseline exam, though (like, before starting finasteride)..

Just got my results today.. It's somewhat disturbing..

DHEA: 2.7 (Ref.: 0.2 - 2.7)
CORTISOL: 9.7 (Ref.: 1.6 - 12.6)
TEST. 95.3 (Ref.: 31.8 - 100.4 --> that's the ref range for my age, 30 - 39. I am 39)
ESTRADIOL: 7.4 (Ref.:1.0 - 4.7)

As you can see, my estradiol levels are almost DOUBLE of the upper limit. And, that's OFF finasteride.... And my TEST was also on the upper level, though still considered normal.. Like I said, I am back on finasteride, and I plan on getting my TEST/ESTRADIOL tested again in mid-June.

Until then, my dr. told me to do some dietary things (zinc, I-3-C, curcumin) to try bringing the estradiol levels down..

I don't have a baseline hormone panel to compare with, that is also frustrating.. Because I can't compare with anything..

Any thoughts are appreciated..Cheers.

it's all in your head. Finasteride can't do this brah. Hit the gym and forget about it.

all joking aside, that is a bit disturbing. It sucks you don't have a baseline to compare it to, but I doubt your estradiol levels were that high before. Do you best to manage it and best of luck. Did you have good results on finasteride?

Very interesting. I think getting your hormonal levels pre-taking finasteride again, was a great idea. I think it's safe to assume high testosterone = high DHT; but not high T-levels due to stopping finasteride. I believe the latest study I read stated that finasteride doesn't act on testosterone directly but rather on DHT. I think the above T levels is your "normal" T-Levels. Which although it can't be validated by a hormonal level test (13 years ago), it can be correlated with your hair loss and you starting treatment then.

I'm not sure about estradiol pathology in general or finasteride's affect on it.

Fwiw finasteride increases testosteron,cause less is converted into DHT. Body then produces more estrogen to match increased test.Atleast thats what I heard
