So i am looking at the medicalwellnesscenter web site and i see they mention that a high dose of proscar has show to have an increase risk of prostate cancer. Is this true because i have never heard such a thing on any hairloss board unless i have been that unlucky.Any studys to back up their claim?

I doubt it there are no studies proving a link

If anything propecia would be more likely to DECREASE the risk of prostate cancer and INCREASE the risk of testicle cancer, however, neither of these are proven and no one on this board has gotten testicular cancel from it. People are more likely to get gyno and breast tissue, and thats really rare.

finasteride in general is a catch 22

Men who take finasteride even at small dosage below 1mg have shown to be at a lower risk of prostate cancer. The catch however is men who have been on a finasteride regime who did develop prostate cancer have been reported to be at a higher risk for more aggressive cancer if it does develop.

Now this higher risk of aggressive caner could also boil down to the lack of educating your doctor that you are taking finasteride when you go in for your prostate exam. This would offset your results and could lead to later detection.

Thanks guys for the input. I was in no way going to be taking 5mg doses but instead cut it into 1/4ths.
