High Blood Pressure Drugs - Hair Loss

Hi All,

I've just been diagnosed with Hypertension and have been prescribed Amlodipine (Calcium Channel Blocker).
The first thing that came to my head was how does this affect my hair loss. I am starting Amlodipine today.

I googled around and it seems that a lot of blood pressure drugs increase hair loss for people.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has high blood pressure (hypertension) and if they are on any blood pressure lowering drugs

I’ve used losartan 25mg for 3-4 months and believe it’s cause hair to thin. Currently trying to find out why my crown suddenly started to thin. Weird.

Yes they are renowned for shedding and even acknowledge it in the leaflet for side effects.

Ah f***. I stopped finasteride in early June for 6 weeks noticed a small amount ofshedding and scalp itch so started it again this was around mid/late July and my hairs been shedding since. I started the beta blockers around early September so I don't know what has caused the shed I've got so desperate I've upgraded to avodart instead of finasteride for the past month.

Yeah. I just started thinking it might be related. Is it all bp type medicines? I’m on losartan which is potassium and not a beta? Any thoughts
