I found this forum several years ago and have visited on and off since then. It was very helpful in helping me decide what I was going to do about my hair loss.
I am 30 years old and have thinning throughout the top of my head and a noticable bald spot at the vertex (sorry, not real familiar with the Norwood scale).
A little history on my treatments, about 8-9 years ago when I started to notice my hair loss, I started using Rogaine. What a mess!! I couldn't stand the oily mess or the time to apply it and I stopped after about 3 months. It also made my scalp red, itchy, and painful.
I did nothing else until a year ago, when after reading a lot of posts in this forum, I decided to get a prescription for Propecia. I was scared about the side effects, but I thought I had nothing to lose by trying it(except more hair or my erection). I have been on it for a year and have not suffered one side effect! I also started using Nizoral shampoo 2X week.
After a year on Propecia, I have not noticed any change. What I mean is, I have not grown anything new, but my loss has either stopped or severely slowed down.
The recent ads for Rogaine Foam peaked my interest and I decided to try it out. I only bought a one month supply in case it was the mess that it was before. All I can say is WOW!!! Dries fast and is applied very easily. I have been on it a week now. Not only do I think I can stick to this easy regimen, but I am actually excited!
I am glad to finally join this forum and I hope to post a success story someday.
