Hi! My name is Iñigo, I'm form Spain and I'm 22 (23 on February).

I think I'm starting to go bald. I went to the dermathologist and he said I have Androgenetic Alopecia (which surprised me a lot since neither my father or grandpa is; just my mother's dad and he's not actually full bald). it's nothing really terrible but I noticed a loss of density on my hair this last year, and I was actually pretty worried.

He told me to take Finasteride, some vitamins and have good diet (I live in Spain so that's pretty easy. On the other hand we are the country with most bald men in the world haha). I have pretty dry hair so I guess I need to change my shampoo also.

What dou you think? I'm new to this world and I need some answers. What are the side effects of Finasteride? Are they as dangerous as some people here make them out to be? Can it make me help regrow my hair back?
What's you take on my hair?

I'll post some pics.

Thx!

Please I'd love if someone could answer me...
it will only get worse. Take testosterone inhibitors cpa or spironolactone and estradiol. Finasteride in 90% of cases worsens the situation, permanent deposition begins, as the androgen-estrogen ratio changes, permanent deposition !!! As a result, you will shave your head and remain with your problem.

I've read so many different things about Finasteride that I don't know what to think anymore...

That's why I'm asking here.

Look mate, it all depends on severity of your hair loss and velocity of the process, if its tolerable you can just relax for few years and hang about, untill it worsens and then take action, or you can delve into it now, then get dermatoscopy done, maybe even bring in your hair for analysis to labaratory, they evaluate the diameter of hairs and their quality and stuff, to be sure you are balding.

If you are balding, then at some point in time you will be faced with decision - baldness or drugs. Only working avaialble drugs are finasteride (or other a-a) and minoxidil. Finasteride has fucked up sides that can ruin your life just like baldness - gynecomastia, erectile dysfunction, brain fog, libido absence. When you will swallow finasteride pill, you will roll a dice against destiny. If you are lucky, your hair loss will stop, lost hair will be regrown and you will have no sides, if you are unlucky your life will be ruined. That's a coin flip.

Lol, is Finasteride that hard? I don't know how a med that could ruin your life is permitted if it's that easy to be unlucky.

What are your arguments for that?

Because it's the only working option against baldness and it makes big bucks for the producing pharma companies.
It'sa gamble, some have great results, some have terrible results. If you are put into this situation upon this choice by life, then you lost already imo.

I'm talking about studies conducted by professionals please. Stop with the big conspiracy pharma please, it's childlish at this point.

The most I've read is that 2-3% people get sides and most of them go away once you stop taking it.

Im not sure what are you talking about, im not trying to talk you out of taking drugs, do as you decide, i couldnt really care less about your well being, just explained what's the situation like with baldnes, since i thought you are absolute newcomer to the forum.

No what you're doing is fear mongering and misinforming new users. It's not a coin flip against life, it's a calculated risk with a VERY broad spectrum of outcomes, from "amazing results" to "really bad sides" and literally everything in between.

@Inigo1202: Your research is correct. But be aware, just like the bad sides are unlikely, so are great results. The vast majority of people achieve maintenance or slight improvement.

I'm just so f*cking tired of this sh*t. Why must hair loss calm me down so early on?

throw out the sh*t that you take and start taking normal drugs that will really grow your hair and not feed on promises

Hey there. It looks like you need treatment but luckily you caught it very early. With a bit of luck you'll probably look like theres nothing wrong with your hair.

If you are having some doubts about finasteride, here's my personal (and ongoing) diary with it:

Theres weekly and monthly updates there, you can use it as a reference at least. Good luck!
