Hi PP,

I'm posting from China and I'm 24 years old Chinese and I notice my hair thinning 1 year ago. I had very thick hair before, but during the last year, my crown thinned a lot, and now I can clearly see my scalp after shower. Maybe I'm Norwood 1.7 now.

I started taking Propecia at 1mg/day 131 days ago.

But I don't know if propecia is doing good to me. I feel I'm still gradually losing hair, rather than gaining.

In the past 4 months, I washed my head every 3/4 days, and every time I see around 130-150 hairs in my basin. (I think this is higher than normal, and I don't think I would lose so many before taking propecia). And besides what I lose in washing my head, I believe I'm still losing 15-25 hairs daily by average.

Till now, I don't believe I have got any noticeable regrowth/thickening on my head. In fact I think it became worse. (I do noticed a very little amount of vellous hairs (1cm-1.4cm) standing on my front head (through VERY hard checking), but I think maybe I also had them when I started the treatment.)

Since starting Propecia, I think I'm still losing at generally constant speed, and maybe the rate is even higher than before.

I also noticed among the lost hairs, there are quite some small hairs, they are around 1 - 2.5 cm, with tapped end.

As to side effects, since starting, I think my scalp becomes a little bit more oily, and my libido drop down a bit, my breast was once more sensitive but it seems went away, and maybe the hairs on my hand back grows a bit, and someday I would have a spot on my face.

I hate to admit both my mother and father don't have too many hairs. But I'm doubting if this is pure male pattern baldness, because I notice my hair thinned since last year I got a boss that I really don't like.

So, it's been 4.3 months (131 days) on propecia and seems I don't have good results. What would you recommend me to do?

Now questions:
1. I'm suspecting that I have some hyper-andro symptoms - more oily scalp + some hand hairs growth. And after researching, I don't see many success stories with oily scalp. Is there anyone don't agree with this?

2. I'm suspecting most of the responders of propecia would see a decrease of hair loss by 4 month, but I havn't notice it till now. And I'm still shedding at a constant high rate.

3. Do I need to wait a few more months, to see if it's necessary to add minoxidil?

Thank you people!
