Hi BBT and welcome to the forum! Given the nature of the questions you have asked, which are good ones, I think you are in the right place.

1) Soy - Bruce Lee and I will disagree on this one. Not that I disagree with him that soy contains properties that tip the estrogen balance in men in the wrong direction, but, I think that in small portions soy is a good thing for all people even men to mix into their protein intake for reasons other than preventing hairloss. If Bruce responds to this, I know what his hesitancies about soy are and I agree with them, but I just have to agree to disagree with him about the amounts of soy that one must take in order to see any such effect on a male body. As for hairloss, I don't think that soy will make or break your hairloss in and of itself and will pretty much have no effect on male pattern baldness. Just my opinion.

2) From my understanding, coal tar shampoos are not effective in addressing sub-derm causes for hairloss. I have always been under the impression that coal tar shampoos are good at holding onto hairs that are in telogen or resting phase, giving your hair an added sense of thickness because hairs normally shed are held onto a little bit more during their life cycle and remain in the scalp, albeit not growing.

3) I will leave this one to Bruce Lee. He has been studying a certain slant on this topic and I admittedly have no knowledgeable response to this question.

4) Taking vitamins will ease your hairloss if your hairloss is caused by vitamin deficiency, which is rare. male pattern baldness is caused primarily by genetics, but I must say that if you are not treating your body well it begin your genetic sequencing to begin the ageing process sooner, resulting in the same male pattern baldness that you would have had anyway, but it would take place a bit sooner because the internal age of your body and organs are 'older' than someone with your same genetic makeup who took care of himself better. Again, not scientific, but just my hunch. I don't think that any vitamin supplements in and of themselves will reverse or even slow down a process that is a genetically programmed inevitability.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in a nutshell, male pattern baldness is not caused by vitamin deficiency and vitamins won't solve it. It is caused because you have hair that is programmed to fall out when attacked by DHT, a naturally created substance that you started creating within your body when you started going through puberty. Vitamins won't change this.
